Statement of Intent
The Company is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and any other persons who may be affected by our activities.
Senior management has overall responsibility for ensuring that effective health and safety arrangements are in place across all operational sites. This policy applies to all employees working within production, technical, quality, and support functions.
The Company will ensure compliance with all applicable UK Health & Safety legislation and relevant codes of practice.
Our Commitment
The Company is committed to:
- Managing health and safety risks within the workplace
- Preventing accidents, injuries, and work-related ill health
- Providing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where required
- Supplying safe plant, equipment, and systems of work
- Ensuring safe handling, storage, and use of raw materials and cleaning chemicals
- Maintaining safe and healthy working conditions, including adequate lighting, ventilation, heating, and safe flooring
- Providing clear information, instruction, supervision, and training to ensure employees are competent to carry out their duties safely
- Implementing effective emergency procedures, including fire and evacuation arrangements
- Consulting with employees on matters affecting health and safety
- Reviewing this policy at least annually and whenever significant changes occur
Responsibilities
Management Responsibilities
Management is responsible for:
- Implementing and maintaining this Health & Safety Policy
- Ensuring suitable and sufficient risk assessments are completed and reviewed
- Providing adequate resources to manage health and safety effectively
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety requirements
- Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses
Employee Responsibilities
All employees are required to:
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others
- Co-operate with management on health and safety matters
- Follow company procedures, training, and instructions
- Use equipment and PPE correctly
- Report hazards, incidents, and health & safety concerns promptly
Risk Assessment
The Company will ensure that:
- Risk assessments are carried out for all significant workplace hazards
- COSHH risk assessments are completed for hazardous substances
- Manual handling and equipment handling risks are assessed
- New tasks, processes, or equipment are risk assessed before implementation
- All risk assessments are reviewed at least annually or following significant change
Training & Competence
The Company will provide:
- Health & Safety induction for all new employees
- Ongoing training relevant to job roles and workplace risks
- Training in specific areas where required (e.g. manual handling, working at height, electrical safety)
- Health & Safety induction for contractors and visitors prior to accessing operational areas
Consultation
The Company will consult with employees on health and safety matters:
- As issues arise
- Through routine communication and meetings
- As part of an annual formal review
Emergency & Evacuation Procedures
The Company will ensure that:
- Emergency procedures are in place and communicated to all employees
- Escape routes are clearly signposted and kept clear
- Emergency lighting and alarms are maintained
- Evacuation procedures are tested regularly
- All employees, particularly new starters, are trained in emergency arrangements
Regulatory Compliance
The Company will co-operate fully with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and other relevant authorities and will seek guidance where new or specialist health and safety considerations arise.
Policy Review
This Health & Safety Policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if significant changes occur within the business.
